10/31/2023 0 Comments Might and delight shelter 3![]() It was all very quiet, a sort of interactive meditation on nature. Certain interactions would trigger events, and you could unlock new antlers, masks, and coat patterns for your deer. ![]() Instead, you simply wander around in search of other deer, interacting with your cloven-hooved friends using a variety of emotes. The Endless Forest casts players as a deer with a bizarre human face. Meadow is a fresh foray for Might & Delight, but its similarities to Tale of Tales' 2005 MMO The Endless Forest are clear. You can find a full list of extras right here. If you own all things Shelter, you unlock the ability to play as a bird. If you've got a copy of the original Shelter, you can play as a badger, and Shelter 2 unlocks the lynx, and so on. The team has some add-ons for those who own previous Shelter games and products. ![]() Might & Delight will be adding new goodies in updates after release to keep things exciting, too. You can communicate with other critters using a collection of emotes and sounds. In your den you can create a customized animal that suits your fancy, choosing from a number of different fur textures and facial expressions. That looks and sounds quite nice, doesn't it? Meadow seems pretty open, allowing you to group up with other players or go it alone. Might & Delight heralds the game as a sort of nature playground. Sure, that doesn't make a whole lot of sense in the real world, but Meadow is all about exploring and the social experience. Lynx walk side-by-side with fox and deer in blissful harmony. Unlike Shelter 1 and 2, Meadow seems to be less about struggling to keep your cubs from succumbing to a nasty demise, and more about making friends. While that is a game I would certainly be interested in, it seems Might & Delight has a different vision for their latest project. There's no release date (beyond "2020") or price tag on Shelter 3 yet, but you'll never forget when it's coming out if you earmark its Steam page here.Pip once speculated that Might & Delight's upcoming Meadow might be a game in which you play as a mommy meadow nurturing a litter of baby meadows, keeping in line with Shelter's tradition. What I'm saying is that the devs have some big shoes to fill. Just how do you maintain social harmony within a herd? Being nomadic, grazing creatures, your herd has to continually move forward and share resources, too, which makes me wonder how much will be AI-driven or scripted. I'm very interested to see how they manage to make elephant diplomacy work. The developers say that "motherhood, social harmony and inheritance are the keys to prosperity", unlike earlier games. The shift in scale has me curious about how they plan on making life as an elephant work. Elephants may be more powerful creatures, but it takes a lot to keep one running, let alone a herd. The Shelter series have never been one to shy away from the harsh realities of animal life, the food chain and the struggle for survival. ![]() Just look at that baby elephant - adorable, right? Which means it's going to feel like a tiger literally tore your heart out when one of the young'ins strays too far from the herd and gets cornered by something nasty. While Might and Delight haven't revealed much about Shelter 3 as a game, we can be sure that their animation game is still on point. It's also a look at a more social breed of animal, with the previous two games being solitary, tense stories. You'll be leading their herd through the jungle and across the plains, and protecting the young from predators. While the first two games focused on the fragility of life as a badger and lynx respectively, this time the player has a big role to play - an elephant. Announcing a new game on April 1st seems like a foolish prospect to me, but Might And Delight reckon that now is the best time to unveil Shelter 3 to the world, due for release in 2020.
